KING GEORGE HOSPITAL

6 clinical teams provide physiotherapy to In and Out Patients in this new purpose built hospital.

We also provide Physiotherapy care to patients on Juniper Private Patient Unit.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

KING GEORGE HOSPITAL

The department is committed to developing staff in clinical and non-clinical areas. The 6 clinical teams are led by experienced Senior Staff at Superintendent or Senior 1 grade.

• Rotations occur in most clinical areas at Junior or Senior II grade. A flexible approach to allow staff preference is adopted to rotations.
• The Department is committed to clinical audit with each team undertaking 2 audit projects per year.
• A formal process of Objective Setting/Appraisal occurs at all Physiotherapy grades.
• Inservice training is conducted on a general and speciality basis with regular sessions x2 per week.

MUSCULOSKELETAL OUTPATIENTS

This service provides a physiotherapy assessment on medical referral. Variety of treatment options available include Hydrotherapy Pool.

ORTHOPAEDICS

Physiotherapy for patients – trauma and elective orthopaedics

Pre-op and Post-op Care in Wards and Adult Day Unit. Progression to Outpatient care as appropriate

Rehabilitation following surgery. Personalised exercise programmes.

WOMENS’ HEALTH

Pregnancy & Post Natal Period - Provides Antenatal Classes in conjunction with midwives.

• TNS for labour education sessions.
• Antenatal In and Outpatient service.
• Post Natal Exercise Class.

Gynaecology - Provides a service to gynaecology Inpatients and Outpatients.

• Incontinence male/female

SCBU & newborn infants - provides advice on a range of respiratory & musculoskeletal conditions.

INTENSIVE CARE / SURGERY / INPATIENT PAEDIATRICS

Provision of respiratory care and rehabilitation as required to surgical patients.

• Provision of specialised care as required to a 6 bed general intensive care unit.
• In and Out patient amputee physiotherapy service.
• Inpatient physiotherapy cover to a general paediatric ward.
• Co-ordination of on-call physiotherapy service to emergency respiratory patients at KGH and Barking Hospitals.

NEUROLOGY

• Rehabilitation for patients in 12 bed Stroke Unit.
• Rehabilitation for Neurolgoical conditions. In and Outpatient Services.

RESPIRATORY MEDICINE

Rehabilitation of patients with respiratory and other medical conditions. Services offered to In and Outpatients.
