PERSONAL INFORMATION:

Dr. Akhtar took up his post at King George Hospital in May 1993. He trained in Haematology at the Leicester Royal Infirmary as Senior House Officer and Registrar. He then became a Research Fellow in Molecular Haema- tology at the University of Leicester, where he was awarded higher degree on Molecular techniques in human lymphoid malignancies. Latterly, Dr. Akhtar was on the West Midlands Senior Registrar Training Scheme in Coventry and Birmingham.
